Ingrid Zuleta Film Test 2 Code 999 1) A time when I thought scientifically was during an argument that I had with my mom over sexuality. Growing up I had old fashioned Catholic and Central American values. With that being said, scientific facts did not matter. The only thing that mattered was following my parent’s rules or getting an old fashioned slap in the face. Scientifically speaking, every person is born with their own individual personalities but it reflects on parents genes. The nature vs nurture argument on “who you are”, “who you want to be” or “who your parents want you to be” remains but it is a fact that we are scientifically wired to be who we are. Certain things could be altered but not changed. I have always been a very rebelliously open-minded and free spirited. Since a young age I was my father’s reflection fighting for his freedom, rights, values and beliefs. One day, my mom brought up how it was unfortunate on how a gay man could be such a deception to society (talking down upon this person). I got furious and told her that she was being unfair to judge such a man that had no choice on what or who he liked because he was born this way and he was engineered scientifically to his sexuality and it was not a preference. And, of course, she maintained her Catholic view point on how “He” was a sinner. So I, like a thug, flipped the story on her and pointed how much of a sinner she was and how we were born from original sin and that God loves us all equally and unconditionally. My difference was that I ended my argument with how our brains are wired from our gene pool and we are born knowing the things that we like such as our way of thinking and how nobody can tell us what to like. Even though she didn’t agree with everything that I told her, our common denominator on God remained and that science is powerful knowledge.
2) I have used magical formulas throughout my whole life but at the same time, I usually take them as a joke. Given the fact that I was born on Friday the 13th after an eclipse had occurred it was destined that I was going to live a strange life. My mom always told us not to believe in superstitions but to just know that other things existed in the world. Every time I left the house my grandmother would bless us with the cross and before we slept she would pray in our names. Another thing that I grew up with was the belief to never go to a fortune teller because you could “change the future”. The way I see life is respecting others beliefs and not shaming them nut rather appreciating the differences between each other. I live my life everyday as if it were my last by enjoying the simplicity of each day and even if I don’t do much in a day, I am grateful. Perhaps I don’t think that Friday the 13th is ever unlucky because I always have something good on those days but to others it may be the worst of the days. Superstitions don’t alter my lifestyle in any way, shape or form.
3) Calvino’s shuffle is a way of analyzing what is so called “lucky”. What I got from this metaphor was that it is not possible to predict the future because everyone interprets life differently. For example on how tarot cards predict what is going to happen next. These cards have a 50/50 meaning on what it means to you and the opposite of that. Calvino’s shuffle should be a guiding principle in a way that life is a probability. If we believe in whatever subject that we are asking the cards then that is what the cards will tell us. Our own interpretation is what lies in our subconscious and that is eventually what we will believe.

Test 2
1. Drawing from the movie "we are all scientists" describe several incidents in your own life where you thought and acted scientifically. Be sure to detail how your thoughts or actions were scientific. On many occasions there are incidents in my life that I have had to act/think scientifically. One situation that is always reoccurring is when, me and my two friends Elijah and Ernie play zombies on Call of Duty Advanced Warfare. First off is that in order to be successful in this game mode you need strategy and a plan. The entire goal of the game is to get as many rounds as you can until your unfortunately outnumbered by zombies. So we always start the plan by "knifing" as many zombies in the beginning because they are easier to kill and we get more points by "knifing". When we have a suitable amount of points at the time we then point out the doors we open and don't open in order to have a flowing amount of zombies that are coming are way in the higher rounds. Then we proceed to the "exo room" to get suited up, then we then find the best guns to power through the zombies. Without the best guns we wouldn't be able to get through the zombies in the higher rounds. Then we always need to get "perks" which help us with health and fast reload during the game. Without the perks especially we wouldn't have any chance. One of the last steps is to always keep upgrading your gun whenever the player has an opportunity. Without upgrading, the guns wouldn't be strong enough for the zombies. We know each round that the zombies get stronger, therefore, our guns need to get stronger. When all those steps are completed and the player stays consistent with upgrading me and my friends plan out to stay spread out but close enough to regroup if someone gets outnumbered. In order for me and my friends to reach the highest round we can we always have this same plan every time we play, and if we didn't follow this plan we would be the players no one wants to play with.
2. Using the movie "voodoo voodoo" as your prompt, have you in your life ever used a "magical formula" (from prayers to mantras to chants to childhood rhymes, etc.) to secure what you wanted or to protect yourself, etc? Feel free to tell your recollections in story form. How would you today rationally explain how and why it worked? A very magical rhyme that I know is whenever me and my friends go out to eat there is always some people that want dessert and some don't. I myself is the one who always wants dessert so this is how the "chant" goes. When we are done eating we all pile into the car, and it all starts when someone says "whats for dessert"? Then theres always that scrooge that says "I'm full I don't want dessert" and sometimes another agrees. But the rest of us hear that roll the windows down and start to bang on the top of the car and the sides yelling "I want mcdonalds ice cream" is the usual one. It takes about two minutes tops for the rest that didn't want ice cream to give in and then were on are way. It seems corny but it always seems to work, maybe because the chant gets everyone worked up, but who knows the chant will always be our chant for dessert.
3. Calvino's shuffle is an important metaphor. Why should it be a guiding principle when claiming something for certain? Give examples. While watching Calvino's shuffle, it showed that people's interpretations of different things are not always similar. Some people claim to know something without knowing all aspects of it. In Calvino's shuffle you can't understand the full meaning of the cards without all of the cards in front of you.

1. Drawing from the movie "we are all scientists" describe several incidents in your own life where you thought and acted scientifically. Be sure to detail how your thoughts or actions were scientific. We are all scientists whether we know it or not. In our daily lives we conduct many different experiments without even realizing. When my brother and I go to a fast food restaurant we like to mix a few different sodas together and compare who has the better mix. We pick three different sodas and mix them together and we hypothesize which one will taste better. By doing this we are acting as scientists.
My “magical formula” was not a chant or rhyme, but in volleyball, as it was my turn to serve, when the opposing team rolled the ball under the net I did not allow my teammates to touch the ball. I believed that if they touched the ball right before my serve that the ball was jinxed. I do not remember just how this whole idea started, but throughout the years I believed that it was true. Very rarely they forgot that it was my serve and that I did not like the ball touched, but when they did and when they touched the ball I would get upset. Because I got angry and believed so much in this superstition I would miss a serve. I blamed my teammates and slowly they started to believe that the ball was jinxed. I started influencing my teammates with this idea, and they started telling each other not to touch the ball. I obviously know now that the ball being touched before a serve was something that had no effect on my game, it was all in my head. I would sike myself out when someone did touch the ball, and it ultimately effected the toss or the way I hit the ball. It was all just chance and precision rather than superstition. The bad toss could have happened at any time while I served, but when it happened while someone touched the ball it was because I was “jinxed.”
3. Calvino's shuffle is an important metaphor. Why should it be a guiding principle when claiming something for certain? Give examples. Calvino’s shuffle is an important metaphor because we should not jump to conclusions. In the film it shows that all the cards need to be revealed in order to tell the story. One card can change the context of all the other cards. When a card is revealed, that does not mean that it is a representation of your future because another card can be revealed and change the whole story. We must wait and hear or see all viewpoints before we jump to a conclusion that might not be true.

Film Test 2, Code 999 1. Drawing from the movie "we are all scientists" describe several incidents in your own life where you thought and acted scientifically. Be sure to detail how your thoughts or actions were scientific. Anytime we do something new, we do so based on a conscious or unconscious hypothesis, with an expected outcome. A more specific example would draw from my hobby of gaming, and messing around with the Artificial Intelligence in various games. AI is an incredibly important facet of gaming, and is constantly evolving as new games come out. However, in just about every AI system there are a few little quirks and bugs. My friends and I often create levels in games that allow us to do so, and populate them with AI characters to see how they'll behave. In doing this, we try to optimize the playing field to benefit the AI, and create a challenge for ourselves when we play with them. For this, I have another example that draws from my friends, as well as gaming culture in general. In order to create tension or diversity in gameplay, many games employ a Random Number Generator, abbreviated RNG by most, and then parodied as "Random Number God" and the like. As with the "Voodoo-voodoo" chant, we never really expect it to work when we "pray" to RNGesus, but we still laugh and praise the video game heavens when it works. The RNG, of course, is a literal probability matrix, and our prayers go unanswered as often as is programmed. 3. Calvino's shuffle is an important metaphor. Why should it be a guiding principle when claiming something for certain? Give examples. New evidence can always appear, and it's important to keep an open mind and be willing to accept being wrong. To create a humorous oxymoron, "never use absolutes". When people make claims for certain, and never accept new evidence to the contrary, it tends to erase any credibility they have in whatever community they're speaking with. This is true in politics, sciences, and everyday life. Worse still is when people find a tiny bit of inconsequential evidence that can be skewed towards legitimizing their claim in some minor degree. Going off of the example from our class, weapons of mass destruction were indeed found in Iraq, several years after the invasion... And were found to be broken prototypes left over from many years ago, with absolutely no use at the time of the war, and certainly of no use today. This sent Fox News and others like them into a bragging frenzy, despite the ridiculousness of the findings.

Film Test 2 1. Drawing from the movie "we are all scientists" describe several incidents in your own life where you thought and acted scientifically. Be sure to detail how your thoughts or actions were scientific.
One instance where I act somewhat scientifically is when I am cooking something new, making up the recipe as I go. This is because I hypothesize which ingredients and what amount of each will be necessary to prepare the dish or meal. I then test my hypothesis by tasting the food, and if needed, adjusting accordingly, until I conclude exactly what works.
Although I don’t remember a time where I personally did this, I do have some family members that do. Sometimes when we are watching sporting events, some of my family members will starting chanting something about the team or person they want to win, thinking that it will help the players have some luck. Sometimes that team does start to do better, or continue to do well, but sometimes they don’t. However, the outcomes are most likely due to probability or the skill level of the players, and not influenced by the actions of my family.
3. Calvino's shuffle is an important metaphor. Why should it be a guiding principle when claiming something for certain? Give examples.
It is important to consider because a lot of things we really don’t know for certain. Many things will change consistently, and we don’t know what will occur or be discovered in the future. Likewise, there is only so much each of us can know. For example, a long time ago people used to think that the earth was flat, until we found out that it is really round. Another example is that it was once believed that there was only a certain limited number of elements, however many more have been, and continue to be, discovered. Also, when we attempt to predict something that will happen in the future, it is sometimes affected by our actions.

SHALIN GUNASEKERA sites.google.com/site/shalinbeargunasekera/home Critical Thinking test #2 1. one of the main things that has changed my life in a big way was automobiles, from seeing them on tv when i was little to my first hand experience seeing and touching one. the older i got i learned more and more about cars, i started taking apart my dads lawnmower motors at first to make a go kart out of it and now i build whole engines for race cars. kind of crazy to see how far ive came to how much farther i will go, but main thing that always shows me what i was like is when i talk to my younger friends and tell them what to do and what not to do. i didnt always put everything back the way it came together but that is why im good at what i do. ive created my own hypothesis on how to do things faster or easier. i took many pictures and even brain stormed with other people just like me, and through all this ive learned alot. 2. when i was in high school i was in wrestling ( i was a division weight holder for 2 of my last ears of high school 215 wooo! ). i dont really have any storys of me doing some thing repetitively and have any positive outcomes, but every time i had a wrestling match ive always have came on to the mat without looking at my opponent and then i sit right in the outer ring on the mat and arch my back and in a flash get up and smack my thighs with a open hand once to the front of my thigh and to the back in a swinging motion. every time i did that ive always won my matches. i bring this up because in a one and million chance from when i was going up against probably my hardest match, a 6 foot tall foot ball player built just bulging with steroids. i knew this guy was on something, he was staring me down even before the match. i could see him hyping him self up, kinda scary at first but my coach always gave some word of reassurance but we all know that doesnt help. but long story short i won the match just under 2 rounds. 3. I personally think calvinos shuffles is a basic thing in our lives every day but we dont even realize it. for example when we meet a new person we basically are using calvinos shuffle, we try to interpret what they are like, what there do's and donts are. slowly test our limits with them. in a way we a scientist asking questions, interpreting everything that we can to draw a final conclusion on if we like them or not. in a way were all walking in a room with people playing cards and all the cards are different.

Film Test 2 Code 999
1. Drawings from the movie “we are all scientists” describe several incidents in your own life where you thought and acted scientifically. Be sure to detail how your thoughts or action were scientific. Now days, people anytime do new thing like a good scientific but doesn't mean we are. We can try good things, One example: would be when I cook food, for some reason I love to mix flavors and an ingredients. I think is a good a idea to create something that other people even not think about it.
2. Using the movie “voodoo” as your prompt, have you in your life ever used a “magical formula” (from prayers to mantras to chants to childhood rhymes, ect.) To secure what you wanted or to protect yourself, ect? How would you today rationally explain how and why it worked? One of the “Magical Formula” I been doing since I was little girl is to pray for me is something that can it calms us down because we feel that by doing this it will help our chances of improving health or maintaining it. for along time my family been doing this because they are believers of the virgin Maria, one way to make all the things right and make out life better. It may not seem like much to others but the prayers that we have said have a lot of meaning to us and are our hope to obtaining what we once had and in this case our health, life and love.
3. Calvino’s shuffle in is an important metaphor. Why should it be a guiding principle when claiming something for certain? Calvino’s shuffle in is an important metaphor because we can lean how we should never jump to conclusions into all the evidences. There is always opportunity for change and new evidence to come. We need to understand that things happen for a reason, just not because everything is right does not mean it going be perfect, sometimes the universe make changes so things would be different.

999 1) A time that I attempted to be a scientist, using actions as to get a result was when I was making food. Mac and Cheese, while making the mac and cheese I did not want to make a simple mac and cheese. So I began to experiment. I looked up a recipe online and what I saw only served around two and had cheeses that were too overpriced. So I bought cheaper cheeses and cheap materials on the recipe. As I made the pasta, I began mixing ingredients not sure what was good together, but I guessed and it seemed about right. So as the final touch to any good food, I threw in some bacon and with all the cheese I mixed in, I can proudly say my experience was a success. 2) Similar to the “Voodoo voodoo” chant, I too have used a saying in order to feel as though I was protected. Growing up my mother being a very religious woman, taught me a prayer whenever I would have a bad dream or was scared. It is an exceptionally long prayer and in Spanish so I won’t restate it, but overall every time that I would have a bad dream or be scared I said the prayer and for some unknowing reason I always felt better right after the prayer and didn’t have a bad dream after. However, viewing it from my current perspective I would understand that the prayer was not keeping me safe but it was the feeling that I felt from it. When you tell yourself this will keep you safe and you believe it, your mind will believe it and you will feel safe, which can be described as the Placebo effect, you think it will help you it will, when in reality it a false security that you are giving yourself. 3) The reason that I believe that Calvino’s principle should be considered when attempting to claim anything for certain is because you have to rule out all other possibilities. If there is a percentage of an individual’s results being wrong they must demonstrate it and they must prove on how they will not be wrong. The reason this is so is because what might be correct in one situation may not be correct in another, therefore we cannot be certain if what is being claimed can be correct. Thus is we rule out all other possibilities, before we come to a final claim.

Film test #2 Code:999 1. An example of when I thought like a scientist was when as a child I tried to figure out how and why stones could be skipped across a surface of water. At first my hypothesis what that the stones had to be thrown at a certain speed. After all most adults could easily do it and none of the other children I knew could, so I figured that because adults were larger and stronger that was the reason the stones could be skipped. Of course that theory was quickly disproved as I ran into Eric, a child who was 2 years younger and could skip stones better than I. My second theory was that round and smooth stones worked because they could easily glide across the water and not get "caught" by the water. Of course this too was quickly disproved by the countless failures. In the end I saw that the stones that most used were flat and were also thrown at an angle, this I thought was because of the water tension or as I put it the water pushed back much like when you would slap the surface of water. 2. As a child I was taught by my sister that if I held my breathe as the car went through a tunnel, for as long as the tunnel was long, and made a wish, said wish would be fulfilled. Of course there was no scientific backup for this but the belief was solidified as wishes like passing a test or certain items (a clone trooper action figure) I wanted were bought for me from relatives even though I never told them. To this day I still do it, though it is more for fun, ritual, and to have a common inside secret with my sister. Of course any of the wishes that did come true could be explained simply by happen chance, probability, or the fact that my relatives knew what I liked and kept an eye out for those products. 3. Calvino's shuffle should serve as a guiding principle because the whole essence of science and one could argue life itself is change. The only thing we know for certain is that we know nothing except of course "I think therefore I am". With that said the entirety of human history is filled with antiquated and disproven ideas, innovations, and entire belief systems that were so sure that they were the "end all, be all" (correct). This was due to the fact that they were limited in the context of which they were invented in, subsequently perceived , or a product of the times. Of course much like Calvino's shuffle where he uses cards we know that we should be wary of certainty until all the cards have been placed down and even then, of the context they are surrounded by. An example of this was the when most of population of earth 600 years ago were absolutely certain that the earth was the center of the universe. Galileo of course helped disproved this and for his efforts was punished by the Catholic Church who taught taught the Earth centered belief system. Another example was the certainty of inferior races a mere 60 years ago. This was a time when Caucasians believed they were superior because of their genetics and supposed physical superiority. We know know all human beings can achieve the same things if given similar opportunities and proper education regardless of skin color. Thus because nothing is for certain be careful what you do justify, and when given contradictory evidence acknowledge it, and if you're wrong admit it.

Test code: 999 1. Drawing from the movie “we are all scientists” describe several incidents in your own life where you thought and acted scientifically. Be sure to detail how your thoughts or actions were scientific. During fourteen million years, human has pass down tons of knowledges, but human only know how to eat and sleep; and most of the skill that human use today is acquired. When people know much of the knowledges, they started to think critically; meanwhile, they also come out with some odd questions. As a student, I think that we should thank for precious experiences or knowledges left by ancestors. In today’s world, schools started to force students to think critically because we have to follow the stream and be part of the society. I know that most of people’s childhood dream jobs is to become a scientist and I found myself using tons of the science knowledge during my daily work. For example, girls like to shopping, but we hate those ugly sticky labels so much. However, I always has the way to get rid off it; I know that I need to use hair dryer to heat the label and make it soft enough; finally, it could easily drop off by itself. The knowledge that I have learn during the class or view on the Internet become my tip to solve my problems.
2. Using the movie”voodoo voodoo” as your prompt, have you in your life ever used a “magical formula”(from prayers to mantras to chants childhood rhymes, etc. ) to secure what you wanted to protect yourself, etc? Feel free to tell your recollections in story form. How would you today rationally explain how and why it worked? Magical formula is a part of my life, it happened almost once a day. After I stepped in my college life, I got a job in a Chinese restaurant. Even I only work one day a week, magical formula has always surprised my day and make it worse. When I started to think that the day is not too busy, then after a while, people started to filling-in the small restaurant. I can’t explained my feeling by using words. Also, based on other people’s experience; I can tell magical formula always brings misfortunes to people. Jus like an experience that my mom had before, when we smoothly drive on the freeway, there must a person stand out, to talk about the smooth drive and why there is not congestion on the way. Somehow, after those words, magical formula has already bring the misfortune to that person. In ancient China, there has an aphorism that tells people not to say things out loud. Thus it can seen, magical formula is a mysterious incantation. Magical formula not only brings misfortunes, but also it give people a warning of the next step of your life. Chinese people use magical formula to indicated what you should watch next. Ancient Chinese has discovered that dream will related to your life, and also dream always be the opposite side of the reality. Also, Chinese people believe that you always will dream what you think in daytime; therefore, magical formula becomes the necessary part of oneiromancy.
3. Calvino’s shuffle is an important metaphor. Why should it be guiding principle when claiming something for certain? Give examples Compare to Calvino’s shuffle, Palmistry is the same thing but more known by people. Not only China, even india or some Western countries like to using palmistry to read about one person’s present situation and future. Palmistry and Calvino’s shuffle always give people the same feeling when people started to believe in, and people always like to fit themselves in those figures of beguiling impressions. Other than that, Palmistry often changes the palm’s thickness when something important things happened. Also, So I believe that Palmistry is more scientific than Calvino’s shuffle.
Extra points: I think that Calvino's Shuffle is a important metaphor because people choose the cards by the chance. Chance always give people a feeling of that should be stand for their futures, because by people are using the chance to pick cards. Of course, they will easily connect the figures of cards to themselves. Calvino's shuffle successfully lead people to the false scent . Just like Horoscope and Tarot, even know sometimes it's wrong but people still choose to believe it.

nikoI like the example of skipping stones. It definitely did feel as if the older people in our lives that we witnessed skipping stones, knew the trick, or as you said were larger and stronger than us and therefor knew what they were doing with the stones. That ritual that you have between your sister and you is pretty cool. it actually makes me want to give it a go from now on whenever I happen to be driving under a bridge by myself or with others.

1. Drawing from the film, I would say that I act and think scientifically whenever I go out to play pick-up basketball. It becomes all about science when I get onto the court. Even when I’m just warming up or cooling down, I take certain scientific factors into account. For example, the weight of the ball and the distance I am from the basket. One has to measure the amount of energy put into a shot in order to make the basket. A game of HORSE is the perfect example where I always take science into account. I would not be able to make any trick shots without thinking and planning on how the shot can be made or taking the physics of the shot into account. Even if it’s just a simple game of basketball at the park, there’s a science to everything.
2. I grew up playing competitive soccer up until I graduated from high school. As a goalkeeper, I would often get my share of physical contact but never got seriously injured. I like to think it is because of my pregame rituals or “magic formula”. Right before every game as I stood in my position in front of goal, I would go down on one knee and, with my fingers, draw a cross into the ground and write out the name of my favorite professional goalkeeper. In my mind, this would keep me safe and injury free while pumping me up to play like my favorite player. I believe it worked for the very reason that it was all in my mind. I remember the first time I did it and since it worked, I began to do it before every game because I believed it work and it pushed me to a level of focus that allowed me to have a successful game.
3. Calvino’s shuffle should be a guiding principle for everything. One must always take the forces of nature/universe into consideration throughout life. And when one doesn’t think about their surroundings, observe the outcome and make necessary adjustments to ways of living. This can be applied to the simplest situations such as choosing to or not to attend a class. Choosing to or not to go could have different effects on any individual and any others in affiliation such as possibly affecting a class curve due to low or high scores on exams. Every individual is an observer in their eyes which is what can affect nature due to those same individuals not knowing that they are also players in Calvino’s shuffle.

Test code: 999 Test #2 1) When we put materials together, we always wonder what it will create. Whether it is food, environments, or meeting new people. When we make food, we usually go by the directions on how to make it, but sometimes we make a few alterations because we want to try new ingredients with what we are cooking. The different environments is whether we have been there or not. If we have not been there, it it most likely that we will be uncomfortable for just small amount of time until we stay there for a while. It is like you are mixing yourself with the new environment and the new people. Meeting new people is how we are and how different people are. If we are outgoing, it is more likely that meeting new people would be no problem. if we are shy, it is likely that we will have a difficult time. Meeting people is like making a food dish. As we are used to the same environments and the same people, going somewhere else is changing different comfort zones since we will not know what to expect. As we change, it is like changing the ingredients of a new food dish. 2) Usually when I wish something to happen or want something to not happen, I usually cross my fingers or pray. Sometimes it works and other time it does not. I remember a time, I was with my friends and I left as I was heading to English. I was hoping that we would have no class because I wanted to get some food since I was hungry. I crossed my fingers and I prayed hoping that class was cancelled. As I got there, I saw that barely anyone was there. I checked the door and right on it was a not saying "CLASS CANCELLED". I was overjoyed seeing these words in a small piece of paper. As I signed my name on the paper, I prayed saying "thank you" and head off to find some food. Another time I would pray is usually when I am on a plane. Being on the plane, I get scared because I always think the worse when we are on flight. What I would do when we are taking off is pray. I pray to God then do The Lord's Prayer, and that always make me feel better. Ever since then, I continue it to this very day. 3) Some people feel the same or different about Calvino's shuffle. It should be a guiding principle because it is by chance. It is usually a 50/50 chance that we get what we want or we get something that we feel less pleased about. People say it is all about being "lucky", but it is just a chance. A chance that can be real good or something that we could be less pleased about.

EXAM 2 1). Some instances where I thought and acted scientifically were when I was literally conducting a science experiment. I asked the asked and answered the question "what would happen if I were to use Pavlov's law on my friend's reaction when I shoot him with a airsoft gun after I ring a bell?" I made a hypothesis and tested it to see if he would react everytime I saw him. Eventually he reacted everytime I rand the bell even when I stopped shooting him. Another time I used Pavlov's law was when I would wrestle in high school. We would constantly drill the same techniques based on certain situations and eventually I would react without thinking.
2). I would use the rosary and it's schedule of praying the hail mary and our father several times because it's a special prayer to me that makes your wishes come true when you really need them. I prayed an entire hail mary once before I went in for a job interview hoping that I would get the job and I did when the interview was over. I would explain this event as having really good odds at the right time with my desires coming into play. I would also forget how many times it wouldn't work because I would be too busy focusing on when it did work.
3). Calvino's shuffle should be a guiding principle when claiming something for certain because it's talking about everyone being different and how everyone interprets who people are and what they do or say differently from others. As you make your moves in life, others will make their moves in life and then they interpertet their outcomes from yours and vice versa.

Test 2 999 When I was around 7 I was really into batman, I would watch all the batman cartoons that came on TV in the mornings. I thought he was the smartest person in the world. One episode batman was fighting with poison Ivy, she created a potion that would get batman sick. It worked and batman was out of commission for a couple of weeks until he made an antidote. I was amazed at how he created the antidote and using the glass tubes and bubblers. One day I asked my parents to buy me a lab kit with glass tubes and bubblers I figured I can make an antidote and cure people In case they get sick. I didn’t have any chemicals so I decided to grab all the soap in my house and mix it in my glass tube. I made sure that I poured an equal amount of liquid soap into my glass tube. Everything was measure and documented. I grab a little bit of my mom’s food coloring and poured it in my glass tube. After a couple of hours I came up with the “Phil, Jil, the cat and the Fil cure” thank god I didn’t have any buddy tried it but at the time I believe I created something amazing. I thought I was a genius now I look back and laugh at what I tried to do. I recall a time when I was in the fourth grade, a friend and I would play video games after school for hours. We enjoyed playing shooting games and fighting games. Every chance we had we would have our parents take us to target or toy’s r us to buy a new game. We would play the story mode and take turns trying to beat the whole game. One day we got stuck on this really hard level, we just couldn’t beat it. We took turns but we kept failing over and over. Finally it was my friends turn as I was watching him play I decided to go grab a soda from the kitchen, I was gone no more than 5 minutes and I heard my friend shout for joy “yay!” I rushed back to the room and asked what happened; he said “I passed the level”. Next time we came across a difficult level that we couldn’t pass I would step outside the room where we were playing and come back in 5 minutes. Each time I would step out the room it would work, we would beat the level. So we decided that whoever is playing when we get stuck on a hard level we can’t pass one of us has to step outside. What’s funny is that it would work 90% of the time. Now that I’m older I realize the reason it would work is because you get to focus more and while your alone you get into a zone and don’t have pressure from anybody else. Calvinos metaphor explains that even though you are given a path you’re not certain if it’s the right one to follow. The deck of cards will show you a positive or negative message, but until your last card you won’t really know the outcome, one card can change everything. A person comes to a crossroad they can go in any direction, each direction has a brief description of where each road goes. Just because you have been given information and have an idea of where each road leads you never truly know until the last card.
