A time I experienced Gumby land thinking was when I was sitting at home looking into my pool. I was seeing the water it was calm and I was thinking that I should just go for a swim, float for a while. I wanted to be at ease just like the water. I was having mixed emotions due to some issues in my life, all of a sudden there was a loud thunder and a few seconds later it started to rain, pouring rain. I thought this was some type of sign that maybe I should not get in the pool, or a feeling like the earth was trying to tell me although I think things are ok, they are not.
Another time was when I was in high school, I was practicing and got tangled up with some teammates. I fell to the floor and landed hard on my shoulder. I immediately got a stinging pain in my arm and my neck. I thought it was just from the ground and did not think too much into it. I wanted to believe that I was ok and could continue playing soccer. It was just a week before league play began and although everyone said it was broken I did not want to believe it. I kept thinking in my mind that I was ok, wishing for it to be ok. I was not showing any signs of pain, but the worst case happened and my collarbone was broken.
A time when I felt I was caught by maya was when I was at a casino in vegas. I was playing a slot machine and my cousin was at the machine behind me. I was on a roll and winning pretty regularly. As I was collecting my coins I remember turning back to ask my cousin for a bucket. He was not there. I finished collecting my coins and walked around the floor looking for him, as we had no cell phones I gave up after about 20 minutes and went to the room. When I arrived he was in there sound asleep. I felt he could not have left, undressed and been so asleep in this short time, I woke him up and he said he had been in bed for over 2 hours(weird).
