Film Question #6
Code:97ddd
Computational Simulation
1. Technology has developed drastically over the last few decades and it is only growing more and more powerful. The strongest argument for the universe being a computational simulation is how advance technology has grown to deceive our human minds. For instance, films give the illusion of a landscapes such as massive ocean waves to being stranded in space. Humans can no longer distinguish the difference between reality or an illusion. Another minor example but is very common are "Selfies". In this generation we are obsessed with taking multiple photos of ourselves and posting them on social media. How true is the photo being viewed? with so many filters and moderations added to the photo, it is far from being true. If the picture is not filtered then according to the followers it is not worth a "like".
Read more or less
2.As of today, I find myself reading more than I have in the past. Other than this class, with the required readings, I recently download or purchase books on my iPad/iBook. When I was younger, my parents use to take me to the local library to choose a book for the week. During this time I found myself more interested in the detailed doll house the library had on display rather than the books. Now, I go to Barnes and Nobles to browse around and of course for Starbucks. Even though, technology has the simplicity to download a book on any device, nothing can compare to the actual binder book in your hands. From the fresh smell that the book has, to knowing how far you are in the book rather than just seeing the page numbers.
Technology used the most
3. As many, my iPhone is the technology that I use the most. My attraction to it is the ability to check social media, check emails, checking the weather, track my daily steps, internet, read my books from iBook's, take pictures, listen to music from Spotify and reply to some text messages. Having all this access in the palm of my hands makes me addicted to my phone. "Being connected to the world".
