1) Drawing from the movie “we are all scientist” describe several incidents in your own life where you thought and acted scientifically. Be sure to detail how your thoughts or action were scientific.
Drawing from the movie; “We are all Scientist” an incident in my life where I thought and acted scientifically was when I finally perfected a cooking recipe of my own. I’ve always loved food and cooking, but when I was younger I never would follow directions and kind of inpatient. Majority of the time my food would not come out the way I wanted it to come out. So I made it a goal one summer to perfect my potato tots. So I tried cooking them differently every morning until I got them just right. So today I follow that same method step by step; from the kind of potato that I buy and every ingredient to the procedure of actually cooking them. Everyone that has tried my potato tots absolutely loves them. Another time was when I bought a bed from IKEA I had to build the bed on my own, which I must say it was extremely difficult for me. I am not a hands on person, but I had no choice this time a try my best to build my bed. First I read the instructions, and then I took out all the parts out and other tools that were not included. I made sure to follow each and every step to avoid any mistakes like I had from previous experiences. Frustrated I was because I honestly have no patience when building things, but when I was done I was proud of myself
2) Using the movie “Voodoo Voodoo” as your prompt, have you in your life ever used a “magical formula” (from prayers to mantras to chants to childhood rhymes, etc.) to secure what you wanted or to protect yourself, etc.? Feel free to tell your recollections in your story form. How would you today rationally explain how and why it worked?
I guess my example is when I was a little girl my older sister would always walk me to school and on the way to school she would always talk to me about the things I needed to do to protect myself thought out the day at school. You see my sister was really religious at a very young age. Every day she would tell me a story of the bible then pray for me and tell me to cover myself with the blood of Jesus Christ. So that always stuck with me especially when I felt I was in danger I would simple say; “I cover myself with the blood of Jesus Christ”. The reason I think it worked was simply because in my heart I believed that I was safe so I was.
3) Calvino’s shuffle is an important metaphor. Why should it be a guiding principle when claiming something for certain? Give examples.
When it comes to Calvino’s shuffle the main point here is to think more open minded of any possibility possible of anything. An example I have is when I thought my day was going real bad and I get home and life surprises me a great night. Or when I’m feeling super lucky at my sister’s house playing Texas Holden, but I end up losing real bad.
