Week 1
#1 Star Trek Metaphor
As I observe my own life as a template, I can configure three incidents from my life were I have reacted as "Spok", "Kirk", and "Scotty" from Star Trek. Firstly, Heartless (Spok) is the reaction from the front part of the brain as the rational and logical functions.
I recently received an offering of a new job position in my work of stay. As I compensate the pros and cons of such movement, the logic decision comforted me to choose the new position. During this incident I learned to recognize the offering that may benefit me in the future.
Secondly, Heart Strings (Kirk), resembles the Midbrain which controls the emotional part of the brain. Relating this action while I'm driving on the road. Last year I was involved in a minor car accident. Since that occurrence, I panic when I see cars in front of me touch their car breaks in a quick manner. I can remember the feeling of the impact of the car rearing my car. The interaction afterwards with all the people involved caused me to be even more precautious while driving.
Thirdly, Heartbeats (Scotty) symbolizes the physical survival instinct for humans. When I was about eleven years old, I jumped into the center of a pool (not knowing how to swim). As I sank to the bottom of the pool, my survival instincts kicked in, causing me to move my arms and legs in a fast motion to reach the surface. This part of my brain was fighting for survival eventually repeating the movements enough until I was able to take a breath of fresh air.
#2 Surfing Matrix
In the film, Surfing Matrix, the idea of unusual coincidences are constructed. Throughout my life I have experienced two events in which I believe were coincidences. The first event was the time when I dodged a car accident. This incident happened last semester on my way home from campus. As I made my way driving up the hill, the traffic slows down and I pass by the car accident, I notice it is a guy from my class that had just ended. I begin to think the accident could of happened to me if it wasn't because I stopped after class to use the restroom of the fact tat I had to park far that morning because I was running late to school.
The second event was when I bumped into one of my friends in L.A, whom I had not seen in years. After having a long conversation with her, we were able to plan an upcoming event that involved both of our expertise. Later that night I could not help but to think of how it was a coincidence to run into her in such a hidden part of L.A. As Bertrand Russell would explain it as the chances of logical events.
