Drawing from the Star Trek metaphor, and using your own life as a template, describe three or more incidents from your life where you reacted as "Spock", "Kirk", and "Scotty." Feel free to tell it in story form.
In an incident where I believe I acted as "Spock" is on a daily basis believe it or not. The cerebral cortex is where logic and rationale come into play. So i think I act as act Spock dealing with everyday decisions because to get through everyday, you have to make logical decisions.
I think I acted as "Captain Kirk" while i was in my first relationship. Being in my first relationship I obviously fell extremely hard for him and quit frankly I was in love. I would basically do anything for this guy and was not thinking in a logical or rationale state of mind. While I was with him I was not thinking clearly...ever.
One time i believed I acted as "Scotty" is when I am playing water polo. Ive been playing water polo for about 6 years now and water polo has everything to do with technique and moving your body in certain ways to set yourself up for a play and so on. Scotty is the engine master and drives the ship. To explain this in a metaphor, my body would act as the ship and I am controlling it to complete my task in water polo; which is to win.
Drawing from the film, Surfing Matrix, and using our own life as a template, describe two or more incidents from your own life where you experienced an unusual coincidence. How would Bertrand Russell or a skeptic explain it rationally?
One out of many coincidences in my life that stood out to me was when I was a senior in high school; me and one of my really good friends met at starbucks every Monday morning. One Monday morning we showed up and to our surprise we were dressed in the same exact outfit as one another. Gray Ugg boots, black leggings, and our high school water polo sweatshirt. How surprised we were that this happened, it was bound to occur; this was no miracle, just simply a coincidence. We both know we had the same articles of clothing, it was just a matter of when we would wear each article of clothing at the same time.
Another coincidence in my life that really stuck out to me was when I was in high school. My freshman year of high school I bet my still best friend today, her name is Ceci. During our junior year of high school we were randomly talking about where we went to preschool and elementary school. Come to find out, in preschool, we were in the same class and had the same teacher. We were so surprised to find this out that surely, this had to be a miracle. But obviously, we now know this is no miracle but just a very big coincidence. We lived in the same city which meant that we were made to go to that school in our school district and we are the same age which means we are in the same grade. It is just very ironic that we are now best friends.
